Chris battles the #7 of AJ Russell

11/04/2007 - The 2007 racing season is offically over the Chris and the #11 team, after his 2nd place finish in the East-West Shootout in Concord, N.C. The car was fast again with Chris taking the $500 bonus for setting fast time in the time trials held on friday afternoon. The "penalty" for being fastest was the 5th starting spot in the 4th heat race. Chris could only make it to 4th and he missed the handicap and would have to start the feature in 15th spot.  Saturday morning, Chris went out in the only warm-up session and blistered the track record with a time of 13.2. Things were set for the feature, and after a long autograph session, and 5 other features, we hit the track at just aroung sunset.
34 cars started the feature (in my opinion 10 cars too many for the size of the track) and as expected was slowed by numerous cautions. After the field of cars was thinned down by the wrecks, the drivers got busy racing. Chris worked his way up to 3rd, stayed there for a while, and then got the chance to pass the #17 car for 2nd. Next in line was the #7 of AJ Russell but the little west coast car was like a jackrabbit, and Chris could catch him but didn't have enough to make a pass. He had to settle for a very respectable 2nd place finish. Each of the 3 organizations were represented on the podium. The #17 from the MSA was 3rd. The next stop for the team will be the ISMA banquet at The Turning Stone Casino on Nov. 17th.

Chris in the heat race at All-Star Speedway
10/21/2007 We worked all last week finishing the repairs to the #11 car that crashed at The All-Star Classic. The promoter at All-Star Speedway had scheduled a big block super race for Saturday so we went there to make sure that the car was race ready for the race in North Carolina. The new motor ran great and the car was as good as it was before the wreck turning times in the low 11 second range. 12 cars showed up and we were informed that we would be starting the races last. The separated the slow cars into 1 heat and the faster cars into the other. Chris finished 3rd in the heat and then after an extended rain delay, we hit the track around 9 pm. Chris worked his way up from 11th place on a slick track that didn't seem to have an outside groove. He dueled with the #79 for several laps and finally made the pass on a restart for 2nd place. The #33 was the leader and Chris tried to pass him many times but couldn't get anywhere on the outside. With about 12 laps left in the 50 lap feature, he made a daring dive on the low side going into turn 1 to grab the lead. From there he didn't look back and took the checkers in front of a small crowd of dedicated fans who waited out the rain showers. The track was happy with the race and looks forward to scheduling more races for next year when the ISMA tour is idle.

This picture tells the story of how the last race of the season ended. Chris started 12th and worked hard to move thru the field at Thompson Speedway's World Series of Auto Racing on a picture perfect day. The 2007 ISMA season ended the same way it began with Perley and the #11 car in victory lane. He set another new ISMA record with his 11th win of the season. The 2007 ISMA Champion Car Owner hard at work in the pits at Berlin Speedway

10/01/2007 - We returned from Berlin Speedway with smiles on our faces. Chris has made some repairs to his "bucket of luck", and they seem to be holding. Friday night at Delaware Speedway in Canada, we unloaded the car and it was again very fast. The track was as rough as we remembered it. Chris ran well but he couldn't beat all the Canadians in the field as he finished third behind Dave McKnight and Ryan Litt.  After the 5 hour ride to Marne Mi. on Saturday, the car was again fastest on the track. After winning the heat and feature in a race that wasn't rain shortened this year, Chris has again clinched the ISMA title for the 4th time. He tied his own 10 win record from last year and still has a chance to break that at Thompson in 2 weeks. Go to the results page for the full story.

9/9/2007 First I want to say that I'm sorry I haven't updated this page in the last couple of weeks. It's been a little hectic at the race shop, First we spent 2 weeks building the body to race in the International Classic. We went to Oswego for the Supernationals on Friday night and Chris's "bucket of luck" sprung a major leak. While leading the race on lap 48 of the 500 lap feature, Chris came upon a "different" style car, he tried to pass it on the outside twice but was squeezed to the wall so he tried the inside groove and that "different" car spun in front of him. Chris hit his brakes hard and spun himself out but managed to not hit the other car. He restarted at the rear of the field and finished 12th.
Sunday was a new day and we had the non-wing body on the 71 car. Chris managed to time trial the car into the 21st starting spot. As in most long races he was saving the tires and riding along trying to stay out of trouble. An incident in turn 1 almost ended our day early, the #05 spun in front of Chris and he hit the car in the engine area, the 05 was stalled so Chris tried to push it out of his way but when he hit it, he turned it straight and restarted it engine, both cars continued in the race and the #05 would finish 3rd. Somewhere around lap 140, Chris was passing the lap car of #1 on the back straight, when the car pulled into the outer groove and then stopped. Chris hit it and ended his run. At the time he was in front of the car that finished the race 2nd but we were out with a slightly damaged car.
We worked to get both cars ready for the All-Star Classic this last weekend. We had to change the engine in the #71 because it was way up in total laps run and needs to be freshed. Chris set fast ime again in Star's time trials. He would start the feature in th 12th spot. As he was trying to pass for 2nd, the car infront of him checked up for a slower car, Chris hit his tireand sailed into the turn 1 wall hard. This time the car was damaged badly. Chris was not hurt but the car was. He was credited with a 19th place finish.

I just thought I would let everyone know that Chris will be running the Oswego Classic on Sunday. We have been spending the last couple of weeks building a non-wing body for the #71 car. The plan is to race both cars on Friday night in the ISMA Supernationals with Chris and Bentley, then we will put the new body on the #71 with the hope of winning both races and the $25,000 bonus. If Chris wins on Friday, the pressure will be on him on Sunday. Here is a picture of the car.

Friday night at Mansfield started out with Chris being the fastest car most of the day but ended early in the feature when Chris and Mike Lichty both tried to used the same part of track entering the 3rd turn. The cars came together and Mike kept going but Chris was finished for the night with a broken front spindle.
Saturday Chris "opened a new bucket of luck" and after the car was repaired, he returned to his old ways of running very fast. He set fast time in the time trials and then went on to his 7th victory of the year.

7-29-07 We got back from the Sandusky Hy-Miler weekend late Sunday afternoon. It was a good weekend. The car was as fast as it's ever been there, Friday and Saturday Chris won everything he competed in. He set fast time both days, won  both heats and both features. The weather was hot and humid, as expected, but that didn't slow Chris down.

7/11/2007 Xtreme Tuesday at Stafford Motor Speedway. It was Xtremely hot and humid at Stafford on tuesday afternoon. The cars were both fast right off the trailers. Chris was fastest with a 16.6 and Bentley was 2nd with a 16.9 in practice. The cars were lined up in the infield for time trials in the new ISMA handicapping system but a computer problem after about half the cars took time caused the officials to go back to the old handicapping deal. The heats were lined up by money won. Chris finished 2nd in the 1st heat and Bentley made it up to 5th in the 2nd heat but a slow leak in the left rear slowed the car. Vic and Scott decided to plug the hole so that Bentley wouldn't have to start the feature last. The feature was run as the last race of the night with Chris starting 12th and Bentley 14th. Chris moved to the front rather quickly and took the lead on lap 17. The 97 of Rob Summers was right on his tail and on lap 39 when a lap car got out of shape in front of Chris, Rob got around him and that's how they finished. Bentley finished 11th, his #71 just didn't handle probably due to the rear tires both being damaged in the heat. After the race at Jennertown, Techman Jack Murphy joked that he was going to take a spark plug from the #11 to slow it down so at Stafford Chris gave him a spark plug the looked real fast all by itself, complete with a set of wheels welded to it.

7/8/07 - Just got home from another road trip. What can I say about the way that Chris and the #11 car are running? We brought the newer car to Jennerstown Pa. for the twin 30 lap ISMA features last night. I may have said this before but the car was very fast in practice and handling extremely well. Chris went out in the 2nd heat and went on to win it, He lined up 12th in the first feature and was passing a car a lap to take the lead by the half way point, cruising to his 3rd victory of the year. After a couple of Jennerstown regular car features, we were back out on the track for the 2nd race. Chris started 12th, and was leading by lap 17 and crusied to his 4th victory of the season.

The next day at M-40 Speedway in Michigan Chris managed to finish 3rd in a race that saw Mike Ordway Jr. get his first win in the Wentworth #10
