Team Owner - Vic Miller - See the History Of Vic Miller for his story. Crew chief and Tire Expert - Freddie Leclair and Scott Leclair. Scott has been in racing since he was a teenager, first as a push truck driver at Star Speedway and then a crewman for Mike Ordway at Star in the late 1970's when Mike first started racing a modified there. He stayed with Mike until Mike started traveling weekly to Oswego in 1985. Scott then hooked up with Vic Miller and has been there ever since. He and Vic are responsible for the car set-ups which they have worked on together for the last 21 years. Freddie, age 14, has been helping around the garage and at the tracks for several years and was given the title of Crew Chief. Bodyman - Phil Rice Jr. Truck Driver - Phil Rice Sr. have been working on the Vic Miller cars since 1986. He and his father were helping Larry Record on a Modified at Star when Larry started driving for Vic. The Rices came along then and are still there. Phil Jr. is responsible for the body panels on the car. He also does a lot of the work no one else wants to do. Phil Sr was the truck driver for the team when they raced the local tracks, but health problems have sidelined him from making the long trips on the ISMA tour. Recordkeeping - Mike Woodworth has been in racing most of his life. His father, Butch Valley was the car builder and crew chief for the Epping Express, #77 owned by Tim T. Mike worked around that car and was also a columnist for Speedway Scene for several years in the 1980's. He decided to help out Chris Perley when he first stared racing supermodifieds at Star in 1990. When Chris started driving the #11, Mike came along for the ride and is still there. He keeps the books on the team which is not an easy job, following Scott and Vic around amd recording the changes that are made to the car. Mechanic - Leo Shea has been in racing since the 1980's. He worked on his cousin Ed Shea's #27 car for many years and was crew chief on the #37 car when they ran two cars. After Ed left racing, Leo was crew chief on the Jeff Miller #4 with driver Nokie Fornoro before they stopped racing. When Ed Shea started helping the #11, Leo came to work there where he takes care of many of the mechanic dutys, both at the shop and on the road, including keeping Vic's older trucks roadworthy. He was very happy the day Vic finally bought a new truck 2 years ago. Team Medic - Andy Head Beercoolerexpert - Jim Curtis has been in racing since 1979 when he owned a Street Stock car that was raced at both Star and Hudson. The #55 won the track championship at both tracks in 1980 and was driven by Ron Osborne. In 1983, he was a tech inspecter at Star. He has worked on cars owned by Mike Ordway , Scott Heil, and Bruce Budnick, before coming to the #11 team in 1988. His main duties on the team are the beercooler(keeping it stocked) and fueling the racecar. He also is the webmaster for this website. Paint Specialist - Rick Wentworth Owner, Driver of the #10 car is responsible for the major painting duties on the #11 team. |
